"Closeness" 8/19

“I really appreciated the variety of stories and, as always, your gift and ability to convey them so truthfully, thoughtfully, and creatively. You are amazing.”

—A recent Solar Playback attendee

I hope you’ll join me for the next online solo playback performance

Monday, August 19th 7-8:15pm ET

Our theme is “Closeness” in honor of the first Supermoon of the year in August!

“Generally speaking, a supermoon is a full moon that appears larger than a typical full moon because it is closer to Earth. […] A supermoon is a new or full moon that occurs when the Moon is near perigee (the point in the Moon’s orbit where it is closest to Earth). By this definition, there can be several supermoons in a year. The term, “supermoon,” was coined by astrologer Richard Nolle in 1979, who specified that the Moon must be within 90% of perigee.” [Source]

Our theme for this upcoming interactive online performance is “Closeness” thanks to the first Supermoon of the year!

  • What moment or story comes to mind when you hear the word “closeness”?

  • When is being close a positive?

  • When is being close a negative?

  • When has being close to something or someone changed your perception?

  • What are you close to right now in your life? What do you feel far away from?

  • What have you been closer to at different points in your life that you miss currently?

  • What does closeness mean to you?

  • What does closeness gift you with?

  • What does closeness prevent?

  • What else does the word ‘closeness’ evoke for you?

When you attend a playback performance you are invited to bring a moment or story from your life to share and watch honored through the art of playback!

I love honoring true stories through playback, and clearly others enjoy the experience too! Here are some of the audience’s words coming off of my most recent online solo performance:

“It was an amazing experience to feel so connected to our collective humanity.”

“I appreciate your ability to use different modalities to tell the stories and that helped with variety in the telling tonight. I am not only impressed with how well you are able to quickly improvise but also that you are able to speak without faux pas. […] you tell the story with empathy and compassion. Again, thank you for that and for this opportunity to be in community with you, and others.”

What to prepare for:

Online solo playback performances are intimate gatherings that ask for your full participation. Free to register over zoom, and a pay-what-you-wish $0-$25 option for those who feel called to donate after the show. There is no pressure to pay and I welcome you to attend regardless of whether or not you pay. Your presence is a gift, truly. I cannot have a show without you!

Register over zoom using the button below and join the meeting a couple minutes early (the room opens 10 minutes before the start) to ensure your connection.

  • Plan on keeping your video ON and participating at times in 1-1 breakout sessions.

  • Think about a story or moment you would volunteer for a playback.

  • Plan on being present for the 75 minute duration. Please avoid arriving late and leaving early.
