I am over the moon excited to present recent work created out of ‘throw-away’ materials such as:

coffee bags

fruit packaging

lobster claw bands

cds

plastic newspaper bags

etc.

After taking a month-long trip to Senegal, West Africa, in 2006 I was inspired to decorate my black 2005 Subaru starting on the inside, with tassels, a dashboard diva, plastic rhinestones, and its own chandelier. This grew over the years, to include painted wings, a labyrinth on the roof (for the truckers) and hood, rainbows, flowers & bees. When I had to say goodbye to my "Gypsy Crib" this fall, I turned to the food packaging and other 'throw-away' items I have always found beautiful and "The Beauty We Throw Away" was born.

In “The Beauty We Throw Away” I invite you:

to look again at the materials we toss into landfills,

to reconsider their use,

to make choices for the planet as a living being, on which we grow,

to act from a place of love and unity

to pause before discounting, rejecting, or throwing away

to ponder "How might this beauty stay?"

All artwork is for sale. Join me to celebrate on Thursday, March 2nd, or come by Harpswell Town Hall at another time to view the exhibit, free and open to the public when the Town Hall is open.
