Green = Growth!

Wow! What a green world we live in here in Maine this time of year! New green, new growth, new life springing up every place I look!

And that’s not the only GREEN that’s catching my eye. My Nia colleague and dear friend, Fae Spath, recently completed her Green Belt! Here we are celebrating in her new “studio shed” …

Fae Spath is a Nia White, Blue and now… Green Belted teacher in the Portland, Maine area! Here we are recently in her new studio shed space, big enough for a small in-person class! Stay tuned!

Did you know that Nia has different level belts? Many people take Nia belt trainings for personal development with no intention on ever teaching. The content of the trainings is so valuable in fact that retakes are quite common.

Personally, I have completed many of the available belts. I have found each experience to be full of embodied learning. Each belt has also had its own profound ripple effects in my life, sometimes for years afterwards. How often can we say that about a training or course we enroll in?

The Green Belt is the only belt that focuses specifically on the art of teaching. I am thrilled for Fae having achieved this professional milestone in her Nia practice! You can take class with Fae at the local Portland YMCA, or contact her for additional pop-up opportunities. She is on Facebook as well. Fae has been enjoying Nia for 20 years, that’s half of Nia’s 40 years of existence!!

That’s right, this year marks Nia’s 40th anniversary. Launched in 1983 as one of the first fusion fitness forms around–with the radical notion that we can safely move barefoot (at the height of the high impact aerobic craze), Nia has been a trailblazer in the world of holistic fitness for almost half a century! Wow!
