Thoughts

Today is Earth Day and I feel full of wonder and appreciation for the stories shared at my solo playback show yesterday, as well as the time I’ve spent today outdoors, reflecting while picking up trash on trails and roads.

“Erin, what a beautiful gift—your magical powers of listening, holding, expressing, sublimating! I am in awe of you. Thank you!”

I’m struck in the aftermath of my solo performance with an intimate crowd, how story sharing and playback enables us to see and process our experience through new eyes. We heard stories of bioluminescence and its differing cultural interpretations, of hang gliding and defying the laws of gravity, of heartbreak and war, and of being held by the earth… As unique and different as these stories are, they share the common thread of our distinct human perspective.

How we interact with one another, with the elements of our environment, with the earth itself, is a choice.

Some questions that occur to me:

What am I bringing to my relationship with earth today?

What am I surrounded by that I don’t even see anymore?

What story do I tell about something I see everyday? And what does this interpretation say about me?

How might I grow more intimate with the earth? What would that look and feel like?

Is my relationship with earth mirrored in some ways by my relationship with my body?

If you are curious about exploring these or other questions, I hope you’ll be in touch.

Thank you for reading and for considering these questions as you move through your dance of life. I hope to see you at a Solar Playback show in the near future. Learn when and where those occur here.

“Is anybody listening? Erin Curren is! She proves it with every story, using her playback experience to show the common threads in our stories.”
