Alchemy + Me

This summer I embarked on the ultimate Nia Teacher Training: the 2nd Degree Black Belt, Art of Alchemy, with Nia co-founder Debbie Rosas.

Meeting weekly online for 16 weeks with a group of women from the US, Canada, Australia, and Europe was not only a privilege but a terrific pleasure. While I won’t go into detail about the content of the training, I will say that Nia is an education that extends far beyond the dance floor of an ‘exercise class’ to reach deeper and further into the essence of what it is to be an energy being on the planet.

The Body’s Way principles, the Nia 5 Stages, the 7 cycles of a classic Nia class, the 52 moves of the Nia Technique, the sensations of fitness… all of the education and tools of this body of work combine to offer an unparalleled curriculum of greater body literacy and intentional living.

Since stepping onto the path of this “sacred livelihood” in 2009 with my Nia White Belt, I have trained with a dozen different, unique, wise, creative trainers, traveled across the country to attend in person trainings and programs, crowd-sourced to raise money on different occasions to pay for these trainings, retaken some trainings to go deeper with the work, and… coming up on 15 years later, I continue to share what I sense, teach what has been taught to me, and pass on these incredible tools.

Thank you for being on this journey with me. I could not teach what I love without you, my students. You teach me about joy, commitment, resilience, and discipline by showing up year after year. I am grateful.
